On Wednesday, November 9 at 2:00pm, the federal government will undertake a two-minute test of a number of emergency alert systems on all radio stations and television channels, including satellite and cable TV stations. Similar to the emergency broadcast system tests that stations carry out every week, this special broadcast will state clearly a number of times that this is a test, this is only a test. CASWELL BILL TO IDENTIFY PUBLIC ASSISTANCE RECIPIENTS AVOIDING FELONY WARRANTS CLEARS SENATE
The legislation will allow DHS to determine if recipients of public assistance are subject to an outstanding felony warrant or extradition warrant by improving interactivity between the DHS and LEIN systems. In addition, it will help law enforcement track down those fleeing warrants and save money by making sure they do not take advantage of programs intended for needy families.

Legislation passed by the Republican caucus today extends benefits by 20 weeks retro active to the beginning of the year, while reducing the financial burden on the small businesses who provide 80% of the jobs in this state. CASWELL ANNOUNCES RURAL MEGA TAX CREDIT FOR METALLOID CORP.
Senator Bruce Caswell is pleased to announce that the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) approved a rural MEGA tax credit today for the Metalloid Corporation for its planned facility in Sturgis. Metalloid will receive $227,898 in tax credits over a five-year period. The company plans to establish a new manufacturing operation in Sturgis, generating an estimated 30 new jobs in the area. Metalloid decided to locate its first Michigan facility in Sturgis, having chosen it over other possible sites in Indiana and Texas. (Tuesday, February 15, 2011)
