SENATOR HANSEN COMMENTS ON THE PASSAGE OF A PACKAGE OF BILLS ALLOWING POSSESSION OF TASERS BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMITS.

Michigan State Senator Goeff Hansen notes that 43 states currently allow the purchase and restricted use of these non-police grade self protection devices with no training. SENATOR HANSEN COMMENTS ON THE PASSAGE OF SENATE BILL 551-2.

Michigan state Senator Goeff Hansen sponsored this legislation to correct and oversight in the law. Until SB551-2 passed, it was illegal to furnish an inmate with a cell phone, but not illegal for the inmate to possess one. The danger of inmates threatening the families of guards or witnesses by cell phone warranted the immediate need for these bills. (Wednesday, September 28, 2011)
