Senator Jack Brandenburg
Jack Brandenburg was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives and served from January 2003 to December 2008. He was the first elected Republican to represent the City of St. Clair Shores in the state legislature since 1942.
Jack Brandenburg served as Chairman of the House Appropriations sub-committees overseeing the budgets of both the Michigan Department of Corrections and the Department of Labor and Economic Growth. Prior to entering the legislature, he served for two years on the board of the Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority from 2000 to 2002.
Jack grew up in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from Ashland University in 1974 where he earned his degree in Business Administration. He acquired his work ethic from his father, Murray Brandenburg. His father started out as a truck driver for a Pepsi Cola distributorship in central Ohio. When Murray Brandenburg retired, he was president of the company.
After college, Jack moved to Michigan where he took a job with Bowman Products. He worked there for five years and then started his own company, Blue Water Industrial Supply. Jack initially ran the business out of the trunk of his car which served as his first warehouse. Today, his company does business with railroad companies across the mid-west and throughout the southern United States.
Jack Brandenburg married his sweetheart, Karen Linenger, in July of 1978. They are still together and have four children together named Bryan, Rhett, John and Paige.
Jack was elected to the State Senate in November 2010. He was immediately elected majority whip and appointed to chair the influential Finance Committee.
