An active member of Boy Scout Troop 323 of Freeland, Logan has achieved numerous awards for his dedication to scouting. The pair traveled to the Capitol to celebrate Logans birthday on Oct. 27. Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, honored the Catholic Federal Credit Union on reaching the milestone of awarding $1 million in scholarships to local students. The scholarship program was established in 1982 in remembrance of Monsignor Eugene A. Forbes legacy. Since then, more than 2,000 scholarships have been awarded. Kahn presented credit union officials with a special Senate tribute to mark the occasion. (10/27/2011)

State Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, unveils his legislation to ban cadmium and mercury from use in childrens products. Senate Bill 764 would classify cadmium and mercury as heavy metals and add them to the states toxic substance list for childrens products. His other measure, SB 765, would create a Childrens Safe Products Advisory Council within the Michigan Department of Community Health. (10/18/2011)

LANSING - Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, (right) and Maple Grove Fire Department Chief Tom Quaderer (left) joined Lt. Gov. Brian Calley Tuesday as a measure to help train future firefighters was signed into law. Sponsored by Kahn, Public Act 153 of 2011 (Senate Bill 212) provides for a firefighter training program for high school students 16 years or older. Schools could partner with their local fire department to provide the program. (9/27/2011)

LANSING - Sen. Roger Kahn, M.D., joined Gov. Rick Snyder Wednesday as measures to help fund state Medicaid were signed into law. Sponsored by Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, Public Acts 141 and 142 of 2011 (Senate Bills 347 and 348) will provide $1.2 billion for the health care of needy Michigan residents. (9/20/2011)

LANSING - Sen. Roger Kahn, R-Saginaw Township, recently received the Go To Bat Award from members of the Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority. The Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards bestows the honor on individuals outside of the public mental health system who exemplify extraordinary concern, advocacy or leadership aimed at improving the quality and quantity of community-based mental health services for persons with mental illness and developmental disabilities in Michigan.
