State Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton, joined Gov. Rick Snyder (left) at the state Capitol on Tuesday as legislation to save school districts millions of dollars by standardizing school board election dates was signed into law. Public Acts 232 and 233, sponsored by Colbeck and Rep. Kurt Heise, require school districts to hold elections on the November general election date of even-numbered years. The move could save some school districts upward of $8 million over a two-year election cycle. (11/29/2011)

 

State Sen. Patrick Colbeck, R-Canton, welcomed Livonia resident Adam Karabatakis to the Senate on August 24, as part of a day job shadowing Colbeck at the Capitol. Karabatakis, who is a senior at Stevenson High School and active on the schools debate team, plans to attend university next year and major in Political Science in pursuit of an eventual law degree.  (8/24/2011)
