Sen. Pappageorge hosting Project SALUTE event to help veterans

LANSING — To help ensure that veterans receive the federal benefits they deserve, Sen. John Pappageorge, R-Troy, is co-hosting “Project SALUTE” with the University of Detroit Mercy Veterans Law Clinic later this month.
“This is an opportunity for the brave men and women who fought for our freedom to receive free legal counsel about important matters like disability and their pensions,” said Pappageorge, a retired Army colonel. “Sponsoring this event is one way to show my thanks and give back to our veterans.”
The informational event is scheduled for Monday, June 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Bishop Foley Catholic High School, located at 32000 Campbell Road in Madison Heights. All veterans are welcome to attend.
Veterans should bring their DD Form 214, recent ratings decisions and any other documents which will be useful for understanding and evaluating their federal veteran benefit situation.
According to its Web site, Project SALUTE (UDM’s national Veterans Clinic) will visit more than 20 cities throughout the United States in 2009. Project SALUTE is a one-of-a-kind mobile law office that assists low-income veterans across Michigan and the nation.
“I’m proud to co-host this event and I commend the University of Detroit Mercy’s Law School for helping to make it happen,” Pappageorge said.
