Eighteen Michigan residents were charged last week with fraudulently billing Medicare for $28 million for fake home health and psychotherapy services. Sen. Jansen is the sponsor of Senate Bill 221. The measure would license in-home health services in Michigan. Jansen will speak about the bill, which is an important tool in the fight against fraud and abuse of the home care industry.

Home care representatives will discuss the MHHA Anti-Fraud & Abuse Task Force and what the industry is doing to support law enforcement, to partner with investigation agencies, and to educate home health agencies and patient beneficiaries about Medicare and Medicaid regulations. Representatives will also comment on what to do when patients suspect fraud or abuse.
