Sen. Jansen to work with other Midwestern leaders on health policy

Sen. Mark Jansen has been appointed to a regional committee of state legislators that will examine key health care issues while pursuing opportunities for interstate cooperation, policy making and information-sharing.
As a member of the bipartisan Midwestern Legislative Conference Health and Human Services Committee, Sen. Jansen will be working with leaders from 11 states and three Canadian provinces.
In the past, the committee has focused on issues such as health care reform, counterfeit drugs, electronic health records and other new developments in the health care arena.
Each state and province in the region can appoint as many as six legislators to serve on this MLC committee.
Lawmakers from the following states are members of the MLC: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. In addition, members of the legislative assemblies in three Canadian provinces - Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan - are MLC affiliates.
The Midwestern Office of The Council of State Governments provides staff support to the MLC and its policy committees.
