Full-Time Positions

  • Senate Business Office - Senior Accountant
    Under the direction of the Director of the Senate Business Office and supervised by the Finance Director, the Senior Accountant analyzes accounting records and systems, prepares and presents financial reports and budgets, reconciles accounting and payroll data, and prepares and enters weekly and monthly journal entries. The Senior Accountant ensures the accuracy and timeliness of accounting records and assists with the year-end accounting process and the Senate’s annual audit. The Senior Accountant interprets the significance of financial data and makes recommendations based on that information and in accordance with Senate policies and procedures. The Senior Accountant assists managers with special projects and other administrative functions as assigned.
  • Senator Theis – Constituent Services
    Under the direction of the Senate Member and the Chief of Staff, the Scheduler and Constituent Relations Assistant manages the calendar and constituent casework for the Senate Member’s office, often serving as a liaison between constituents and state departments to resolve various issues for constituents. As necessary, the Scheduler and Constituent Relations Assistant answers incoming phone calls from constituents and drafts constituent correspondence.
  • Majority Staff – Communications Specialist
    Under the direction of the Senate Majority Leader and supervised by the Majority Staff Deputy Director of Communications, the Communications Specialist is responsible for providing member offices with a full array of communications services including, but not limited to, writing press releases, photo advisories, media advisories, newsletters, weekly and monthly columns, speeches, social media posts, constituent communications, and other communication as requested; attending committee meetings related to member issues with a significant communications impact; and assisting in the creation, maintenance, and execution of a comprehensive communications plan as part of each Majority Member’s incumbency plan.
  • Majority Staff – Policy Analyst
    Under the direction of the Senate Majority Leader and supervised by the Majority Staff Policy Director, the Policy Analyst serves as the subject matter expert in the policy and budget fields assigned to the Policy Analyst by the Policy Director. The Policy Analyst identifies and develops public policy initiatives, analyzes legislation and appropriations from a Majority Caucus perspective, and assists Senate Majority Caucus Members in their constitutionally mandated role of overseeing state government.
  • Democratic Senate Office - Scheduler
    Under the direction of the Senate Member and the Chief of Staff, the Scheduler greets visitors, assists with answering incoming phone calls, distributes mail, assists with scheduling and coordination of meetings for the Senate Member, Chief of Staff, and other staff.
  • Senator Cherry - Admin Asst. and Scheduler
    Under the direction of the Senate Member and Chief of Staff, the Administrative Assistant greets visitors, answers incoming phone calls, distributes mail, maintains office supplies, and assists with the scheduling and coordination of meetings and other events.
  • Senate Fiscal Agency - Fiscal Analyst
    The Senate Fiscal Agency, a nonpartisan agency of the Michigan Legislature, is seeking a Fiscal Analyst. Fiscal Analysts are responsible primarily for analyzing the State budget in support of the Michigan Senate.

Part-Time Positions

  • Senate Business Office – Courier – Morning Shift
    Under the direction of the Director of the Senate Business Office, and supervised by the General Services Manager, the Courier provides a wide range of services including delivering and receiving documents, supplies and equipment, and assisting with general office duties.

    Under the direction of the Director of the Senate Business Office, and supervised by the General Services Manager, the Courier provides a wide range of services including delivering and receiving documents, supplies and equipment, and assisting with general office duties.
  • Senator Theis – Scheduler and Constituent Relations Assistant
    Under the direction of the Senate Member and the Chief of Staff, the Scheduler and Constituent Relations Assistant manages the calendar and constituent casework for the Senate Member’s office, often serving as a liaison between constituents and state departments to resolve various issues for constituents.
