The City of Dearborn respectfully requests a $5 million state appropriation to support the expansion and improvements of its Civic Center, a widely used community recreation hub serving residents of Dearborn and the greater Wayne County region. This investment will increase available indoor recreation capacity, improve accessibility for families and youth, and enhance community health infrastructure. The Civic Center currently operates at sustained capacity and is constrained in accommodating the city’s rapidly growing youth population, making strategic expansion both a high-priority community need and a sound public investment. This request aligns with state goals to support community health, youth development, and quality-of-life infrastructure without introducing ongoing state operating expenditures.
