- Led by Life Remodeled, the Tech Remodeled Technology & Workforce Innovation Center is a comprehensive digital and technology initiative addressing major barriers to digital access, educational achievement, and workforce readiness in underserved Detroit communities. Based at our eastside Anchor Detroit campus—serving 18,000 Detroiters annually—and with satellite labs at Denby High School, the Tech Remodeled Technology & Workforce Innovation Center provides digital literacy training, broadband access, device distribution, and tech centered workforce development. Equipped with a state of the art Esports lab, a key component of the Tech Remodeled Technology & Workforce Innovation Center is the Esports program, developed in partnership with the Michigan High School Esports League (MHSEL). This initiative bridges the digital divide by providing students with access to high-end gaming technology, professional coaching, and structured tournaments, while fostering critical skills such as problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and strategic thinking. The program reflects the growing role of Esports in education and workforce development. With over 170 colleges and universities offering varsity Esports programs and millions of dollars in scholarships available, Esports has become a legitimate pathway to higher education and careers in the digital economy. The demand for jobs in technology related fields is growing at an astounding rate. It is estimated that by 2026, there will be 3.5 million new jobs in computer science and IT. Technology training in underserved communities, like the residents of the Denby Detroit neighborhood, will help create a pipeline of qualified workers and drive economic growth in the region. Technology jobs pay significantly higher wages compared to the median wage for all other occupations. Tech workforce development programs equip community members with skills that command higher salaries - helping to bridge the income inequality gap and improve financial stability. We envision a cohesive partnership between the City of Detroit, State of Michigan and the corporate tech community of southeastern Michigan.
